{"id":110,"date":"2007-02-14T13:27:45","date_gmt":"2007-02-14T18:27:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.accphotos.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/14\/simmer-down-fans-simmer-down-now-stop-bashing-the-other-school%e2%80%99s-recruits\/"},"modified":"2011-12-09T12:47:25","modified_gmt":"2011-12-09T16:47:25","slug":"simmer-down-fans-simmer-down-now-stop-bashing-the-other-school%e2%80%99s-recruits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blog.accphotos.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/14\/simmer-down-fans-simmer-down-now-stop-bashing-the-other-school%e2%80%99s-recruits\/","title":{"rendered":"Simmer Down Fans, Simmer Down Now: Stop bashing the other school\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s recruits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">With college football signing day in the rear view mirror, fans have had a chance to see how they did compared to other school. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hey, I got three 5-star recruits and you only got one 4-star!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <span> <\/span>Such exchanges are fine as I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m all for school sprit and competition. <span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But there has been a more insidious side to this competition. <span> <\/span>I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know why I do it but I do it; I confess that I read fan blogs and message boards. <span> <\/span>In these blogs and boards has been a festering ill-will to those recruits who choose another school over their\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s. <span> <\/span>It has become down right personal at times.<span>  <\/span>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not going to name blogs, but one was particularly troubling. <span> <\/span>While high on one recruit before signing day, a blog trashed the recruit the next when it became apparent he had chosen another school. <span> <\/span>Crazy; one day a kid is the second coming of Christ and the next day he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a box of rocks QB who couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t pass seeds to starving birds as Coach Steve Logan would say. <span> <\/span>What gives?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p><\/o:p>Fans take the recruitment process way too personally. <span> <\/span>The kids have to choose the school they feel meets their best interest; fans don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get to choose the recruits that fill the fan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s best interest. <span> <\/span>Sorry folks, it is as simple as that.<span>  <\/span>Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t take it personally.<span>  <\/span>It doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t mean the recruit has ill-will toward your school. <span> <\/span>It just means, they were more comfortable elsewhere.<span>  <\/span>Maybe they liked the weight-room better; maybe they liked their position coach better; or maybe it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s as simple as Aunt Margaret lived near the other school. <span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p><\/o:p>Whatever the reason, the decision is their\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, so respect it. <span> <\/span>I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t understand why anyone would wish ill-will to a kid who choose another school. <span> <\/span>These athletes have worked their butts off to no end to accomplish what they have. <span> <\/span>So how about we give them the respect they deserve?
