{"id":2584,"date":"2008-07-23T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-23T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.accphotos.com\/blog\/2008\/07\/23\/unc-lacrosse-project-in-the-media-2\/"},"modified":"2008-07-23T04:00:00","modified_gmt":"2008-07-23T04:00:00","slug":"unc-lacrosse-project-in-the-media-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.blog.accphotos.com\/blog\/2008\/07\/23\/unc-lacrosse-project-in-the-media-2\/","title":{"rendered":"UNC Lacrosse Project in the Media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wanted to draw your attention to the latest issue of <i>Inside Lacrosse<\/i> (August 2008). \u00c2\u00a0As you know, last year, I did a year-long photo essay of the varsity men\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s lacrosse team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. \u00c2\u00a0It was a ton of work, but very gratifying to do. \u00c2\u00a0One of the most gratifying results is a 9 page spread that <i>Inside Lacrosse<\/i> magazine, where I am a frequent photo contributor, published in this latest issue. \u00c2\u00a0I had been in talks with <i>Inside Lacrosse<\/i>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s art director James Schaffer since as early as September or October about the possibility of doing a spread in <i>IL<\/i>. \u00c2\u00a0At the time, I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know if the project would even be successful or would reach fruition. Also, the story could always be displaced by other stories if a major event broke in lacrosse.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"tmblr-full\"><img src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/68.media.tumblr.com\/1a3625460b2501dfdbedf4553d2a766f\/tumblr_inline_o0b8hasexc1r4otob_540.jpg?w=762\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>So other than my discussions with <i>Inside Lacrosse<\/i> and UNC sports information director Dave Lohse, I told not a soul that the photos could eventually find their way into the printed version of <i>IL<\/i>.; not even the coaches or players. \u00c2\u00a0I only told them about 2 weeks ago when I knew the magazine had quite literally gone to the printing presses with the article included.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m really excited about the end result. \u00c2\u00a0The editors decided to publish 9 pages for the story, a good 2 to 3 more pages that I ever expected. \u00c2\u00a0Also used was a photo on the table of contents page.<\/p>\n<p>A public thanks to James Schaffer, Keely Knopp, John Jiloty, Jon Brand and Matt Cain at <i>Inside Lacrosse<\/i> for their help.
